Will Aspirin Help Dementia?

A long term study was published in the Journal Neurology that looked at the effects on aspirin in helping dementia. The theory was that some dementia is called by decreased blood supply in the small vessels in the brain. Aspirin is known to make blood thinner and arguably increase blood flow in the area of decreased blood flow. This is why folks with coronary heart disease or prior heart attacks will take an aspirin a day.

This study, however, did not support the fact that aspirin helped cognitive decline or dementia in patients in the study. In a prior study that I discussed a number of weeks ago, progressive resistance exercise did show a positive impact on folks with cognitive decline.
